Maryam Javaid is a TEDx Speaker, cultural educator and founder of Black & Brown Parenting.

Her work centres on inherited survival beliefs, the ideas, expectations and ways of relating we inherit through family, culture, migration, race, religion and history, and carry into how we parent, love, lead and see ourselves.

Maryam works with women, families and organisations to explore how culture, race, history and wider systems shape the way we relate to ourselves and each other, and what happens when beliefs that once helped us survive no longer serve the lives we are trying to create. Her work spans parenting, identity, relationships, boundaries, belonging, race and organisational culture, with a particular focus on the experiences of Black and Brown communities navigating multiple cultural worlds.

Her signature Rethink. Rewire. Redefine.™ method brings together cultural understanding, conscious parenting and practical reflection to help people question what they have inherited, understand what shaped it, and make more conscious choices about what they carry forward, and what stops with them.

With a degree in African and South Asian Colonial History from SOAS and a background in education, conscious parenting, Montessori, trauma-informed practice and public speaking, Maryam brings academic knowledge, professional experience and lived experience to her work.
